Vicki Blankenship has been dubbed the "Female James Taylor" and a Janis Joplin reincarnate with vocal ranges from sweet and pure to gritty rock. Her solo debut on the Indie music circuit was in 2004 with her "Don't Forget To Breathe" CD which garnered her national recognition and several songwriting awards. She followed up with her 2005 CD release "Horizons" and has performed in over 300 venues and 50 festivals and conferences around the U.S. as both a performer and a speaker. With all of this to her credit she is probably more known for her activism in the fight against cancer and for her love of promoting other Indie artists. As both founder and president of Indie Music For Life (www.indiemusicforlife.org) a non profit that raises money for cancer research and educational awareness on music and laughter as therapy, she organizes fund raising events to showcase independent artists and produces compilation CD's of independent artists to help bring in funds for cancer research.

Indie Music For Life also has several divisions, Laughs For Life, Indiegrrl, and the new Poets For Life. Vicki heads up the Indiegrrl division (www.Indiegrrl.com) promoting independent women in the arts and many of the members refer to her as "Indie Super Woman". A self confessed workaholic, in her spare time she also runs Spotted Kiva Productions a CD duplicating and Web Design company working with mostly Indie artists to help them get their music into the hands of their fans at a very affordable rate. As leader of these groups working to support Independent Artists while raising money for a good cause, Vicki has proved her love for the artistic communities, as well as the need for making a difference in the fight against cancer "One Song, One Laugh, One Spoken Word, at a Time."

Vicki is also one of the first featured artists in Steps For Living a New York based non profit that features artists that “Got Busy Living” after their diagnosis with cancer. She speaks highly of the organization and of Matthew Zachary the founder and leader of that non profit. Vicki most definitely got busy living not only touring the US from coast to coast performing but working tirelessly to promote Indie Artists and awareness for the need of fund raising to find a cure for cancer
